Freefall

Title: Freefall
Pairing: Kangin/Eeteuk
Rating: PG
Notes: fluff, cute, funny

The night had fallen and Super Junior’s dorm was immersed into darkness and utter silence. The members, tired of the continuous practice due to upcoming performances, had fallen asleep soundly without making a ruckus.
Only Sungmin complained a bit about his missing candy that was always placed on top of the fridge. Kyuhyun was the only one able to reach it (for obvious reasons that benefited his hyung). Everyone knew that Donghae was to blame for the candy but no one said anything, as they didn’t want to make a fuss about it in the middle of the night. So, they went to bed leaving Sungmin alone pouting but determined to find the culprit. Other than him, Kangin and Eeteuk were also awake.
Kangin was tossing and turning around in bed, kicking his blankets and making unnecessary noises by grunting. Eeteuk, a few feet away, was trying to compose a new song for the band, his head resting on the bed’s headstand. But after a really loud grunt, coming from Kangin’s side, he sighed, put down his scribbles and turned to his dongsaeng.
“Kangin-ah, stop turning around all the time, making animals’ noises. It’s irritating and distracts me.”
Kangin, with ruffled hair due to his uneasiness, looked up at his hyung’s direction, resting his elbows on his pillow with such a force that the pillow itself almost disappeared.
“Hyung, I am sorry. I think the beer Donghae bought earlier had gone bad. Ugh… I’m not feeling well. My stomach’s going to explode.” said and threw his head in despair on the pillow.
Eeteuk sighed. “Kangin-ah, you should have been more careful…It is common knowledge that Donghae is just a child wrapped up in his own world of aliens and ghosts. Checking the expiration date of the products isn’t something given for him, believe me. Seriously, it was a bad idea to send him for shopping…”
He lied down and covered himself, his blond hair fanning out on the pillow.
“Try to sleep and tomorrow you’ll be just fine”, he murmured and yawned.
Kangin ogled him. “You are seriously going to sleep and leave me like this, suffering in pain?!”, his voice straining.
Eeteuk, convinced that tonight was going to be an endless night of Kangin’s whines, used a different approach so as to avert an unpleasant situation. He put his blanket down by a few inches, exposing his upper body and made an inviting motion with his hand.
“Fine, come here. It’ll be easier to sleep if we snuggle together.”
Kangin eyed him.
“Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t even consider this.”, his voice somewhat upbeat in contrast to what he was saying.
“Just come here already!” Eeteuk almost moved to the rim of the bed, leaving a huge space for Kangin to lie down.
Kangin got up in no time, trying futilely to hide a silly smile that was plastered on his face. The speed he used was excessive considering the space of the room and while making a rush for Eeteuk’s bed, he stumbled upon an old console, resulting in his falling flat out on the floor and yelling.
“Ah, Kyuhyun!! This brat and his stupid games!” said and kicked the console while lying on the floor, with such a malignance, that the toy itself flied across the room.
Eeteuk freezed for a moment by Kangin’s sudden fall and then burst out laughing, his unique laughter echoing the walls of the tiny room.
He tried to get off bed to help his dongsaeng, but he was having a difficult time and unable to withhold his giggling, he fell as well next to Kangin, who said with a smirk on his face “Now who’s making animals’ noises, hyung?”
Eeteuk, still giggling, crawled closer to Kangin’s side and smacked his chest lightly, trying to steady his breathing while looking at the ceiling. His dongsaeng, who seemed to have apparently forgotten his stomachache, caught the hand that smacked him and looked at him with affection, circling their fingers together.
“God, I love your laughter.” Eeteuk’s laughter died in an instant as his head snapped to Kangin’s direction, startled by the sudden mood change.
“Ya, stop joking…How is your stomachache?”, asked in pure concern, their hands still clasped together.
Kangin, with a decisive move, got on top of Eeteuk swiftly, his hands resting aside to his hyung’s head, their faces inches apart.
“Who said I was joking?”, said in a husky voice moving an inch closer and placing his lips on Eeteuk’s ear, feeling his heart beating faster. Eeteuk, with widened eyes, startled from the proximity, rasped a shaky breath and tried to put space between them by placing his hands on Kangin’s chest and pushing with all his might. His effort was useless, Kangin didn’t even budge.
“Kangin-ah, you are heavy. Move.”, he laughed trying to lighten the atmosphere and pressed even more on Kangin’s chest.
Kangin grabbed his hands by the wrists in a gentle manner and moved them above his head.
“I’m not joking I said.” , his lips merely touching Eeteuk’s earlobe. “I am dead serious.”
Eeteuk could feel his palms sweating and the atmosphere in the room tensing. He wiggled his body under Kangin’s grasp.
“Hyung…stop moving and let me talk.” , his eyes burning Eeteuk’s and setting him on place.
“Hyung…, your laughter, your voice, your face…” , his hand traced the outline of Eeteuk’s jaw, making him take a double breath. “…I love all of that. I love how you are so caring about all of us and how you make me a better person.”, he moved even closer their noses almost touching, feeling their breathing speeding up.
“I even love the fact that you are so gullible at times. That way I can seduce you easily.” , he chuckled in a low tone.
“Gullible? What are you talking about?” Eeteuk sat up making Kangin release his grip from his wrists.
“Hyung, I’ve never had a stomachache in the first place. I just needed an excuse to get in bed with you.” , he uttered blankly.
Eeteuk felt his cheeks getting on fire and the warmth spreading on his throat. “So…I’ll just say this…are you willing to take a leap of faith with me?” , his voice serious, looking at Eeteuk intensely.
Eeteuk parted his lips and took a deep breath, ready to respond, when the door burst open.
“Why didn’t you tell me?!” , a small figure roared at the step of the door.
Kangin and Eeteuk both jumped in shock and broke apart.
Sungmin, with red eyes and hands in fists, was glaring at the couple. His attitude was in contrast to his appearance. He was wearing pyjamas featuring cute bunnies eating sweets and matching socks.
Kangin was the fastest to recover from the abrupt intrusion and got up dragging Eeteuk along with him.
“Tell you what, Sungmin-ah?” his mind still wrapped up to the previous conversation.
“That Donghae was the one who stole my candy!” Sungmin’s voice pitch rising again.
“Sungmin-ah, don’t say it in a tone as if he made a felony and has to be convicted.” Eeteuk chuckled but regretted it as soon as he saw Sungmin’s pout.
“It was my candy! Mine! And he ate it!” his eyes starting to water. “ I can’t even do anything to him, because Eunhyuk won’t let me…”
Kangin just sighed and turned hopelessly to Eeteuk. “How do we handle this matter?”
Eeteuk, was the leader in the group not because he was the oldest but for the simple reason that he was the only one who could handle his dongsaengs, especially the childlike ones that caused trouble more than often.
He approached Sungmin slowly and touched his shoulder, trying to console him.
“Come on now, Sungmin-ah. Don’t cry.” He patted his head as if he were a little puppy. Sungmin sniffled.
“I’ll buy you more candy tomorrow when we go shopping. Lots and lots of candy. Also, I will personally ask Donghae to apologize to you properly. Ok?”
Sungmin, through tears, gave him a cheeky smile. “Thank you, hyung.”
Eeteuk couldn’t resist. He pinched his cheeks. “Wah, you are so cute!”
Sungmin just smiled “I’d better get going then. I forgot that the two of you were in the middle of something.”, said in a teasing voice.
Eeteuk blushed furiously while Kangin, on the other hand, was busy searching something in the room, not paying attention to the conversation. Drama, which happened a lot in the dorm, wasn’t his thing anyway.
“No, you got it all wrong Sungmin-ah! We were just…” Eeteuk’s sentence was interrupted by Kangin’s exclamation.
“Ha! Found it!” , in his hands he was holding the console responsible for his previous fall. He handed it to Sungmin who was looking him with questioning eyes.
“Give this to your roommate and tell him not to leave his toys wherever he thinks fits better for the feng-shui. They can be really dangerous.”
Sungmin took it with a mischievous grin on his face. “I’ll keep this for future use. It may come in handy.”
His hyungs looked at him skeptical.
“The less you know, the better. Goodnight!”, he made a heart shape with his hands, leaving the two of them alone.
“What exactly did he mean by that?” Kangin said, closing the door.
“What did you mean by that?” Eeteuk approached him, blocking his way to the room and restraining him from moving around.
Kangin was taken aback by Eeteuk’s behaviour. “By what?”
“By taking a leap of faith with you…Because, if it’s what I think it is that you mean, we are not talking about a leap here, Kangin-ah, but about a fall…a freefall. Asking me to be with you, do you fully understand what that means for both of us?” Eeteuk moved closer to him, looking at him through his bangs.
“You think I haven’t thought about what we will have to sacrifice? Or how our lives will change and how this relationship will have an impact to our career? For weeks it was the only thing that was on my mind. But I am willing to make this fall with you, hyung.” Kangin placed his hands on Eeteuk’s waist. “If you are up for it, of course. I’m not going to rush you or anything.”, said with a small laughter.
“I’ve never said that I didn’t want this. I just wasn’t sure about your feelings…”Eeteuk could feel the temperature in the room rising up. “But now that I know…”, he placed his hands on Kangin’s neck and closed the distance between them, their lips sealing their unspoken promise to each other.

THE END
